Recalibrate
You Are Not Becoming Too Much
Menopause may not be turning you into someone difficult. It may be making it harder to keep abandoning yourself.
Women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond say some version of this to me all the time:
"I do not even know who I am anymore."
Sometimes it sounds more like:
Why am I so irritated?
What actually makes me happy?
Why am I suddenly questioning everything?
And perhaps most importantly:
Why are these people still in my house?
It is funny because it is true.
But underneath the humor, there is something real happening.
For many women, this season is not only about hormones.
It is also about identity.
You may have spent decades pouring energy into everyone else.
The children. The job. The relationship. The house. The expectations. The emotional labor.
The quiet performance of saying "I'm fine" when you were absolutely not fine.
Then menopause begins changing the chemistry, the body, the energy, the patience, and the tolerance.
You may look in the mirror and not quite recognize yourself.
You may become less willing to absorb everything and keep smiling.
And honestly?
That may not be a crisis.
That may be wisdom.
That may be the moment something in you finally says:
"We are not abandoning ourselves anymore."
A lot of women worry that they are becoming difficult, emotional, selfish, demanding, or too much.
I often see something different.
I see a woman whose old way of surviving is no longer working.
I see someone becoming less available for her own disappearance.
I see a woman who may finally be ready to build a life that includes her.
That is the work I do.
Not helping you "get back" to the person you were before your body and life began changing.
Helping you rebuild strength, identity, standards, and momentum for the woman you are becoming now.
You are not becoming too much.
You may simply be becoming unwilling to live with too little.
> FIELD QUESTION
Where in your life are you being asked to stop abandoning yourself?
Your next chapter can include you.
