Direction Matters More Than Speed
Momentum is only helpful when it is carrying you toward a life you actually want.
A lot of people are exhausted not because they are lazy, but because they are pushing hard in a direction that no longer fits.
Speed gets praised.
Movement gets praised.
Hustle gets praised.
But momentum is only helpful if it is carrying you somewhere you actually want to go.
I see this with clients all the time.
They think the answer is to move faster, try harder, become more disciplined, push through, or finally "get back on track."
But sometimes the real issue is not pace.
It is direction.
You can be incredibly efficient at building the wrong life.
You can be disciplined about a routine that drains you.
You can be committed to standards that belonged to a former version of you.
You can keep achieving things without ever stopping to ask whether you still want them.
Slowing down long enough to question your direction is not weakness.
It is intelligence.
There are seasons for speed. There are times when decisive action and momentum are exactly what you need.
But there are also seasons for recalibration.
There are seasons for choosing with more care.
For listening instead of forcing.
For admitting, "I do not need to spend another month, another year, or another decade traveling in a direction that is no longer true for me."
If you get the direction right, speed can come later.
But when the direction is wrong, speed just gets you lost faster.
